At Hamstel Infant School and Nursery our curriculum ensures that all of our children are surrounded by a rich, stimulating environment with a broad and balanced skill-based curriculum. We recognise that all children are individuals with varied starting points and are entitled to engaging first hand experiences. We believe that early language development and literacy is the key to allow children to access all areas of the curriculum successfully.
Our curriculum is driven through themes and high quality books allowing a wealth of cross-curricular opportunities giving meaning to their learning. The themes allow children to gain knowledge, develop new skills and introduce them to experiences outside of the classroom.
Within the Early Years we follow the Early Years Foundation Curriculum and in KS1, the children follow the National Curriculum. We also follow statutory guidance for Religious Education, support Personal, Social and Health Education and enable the development of the children’s Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural awareness.
If you have any further questions about the curriculum please feel free to contact the school office and somebody will be more than happy to help.
