Vacancy Position - Nursery Manager

Hamstel Nursery, Hamstel Infant School & Nursery, Hamstel Road, Southend-on-Sea, Essex SS2 4PQ

 

Salary

Salary Range: Level 7, Points 21 to 27 £26,511 to £31,346 pro rata per annum

 

Hours of work:  37 hours per week, term time only plus INSET days plus 2 weeks

About the Role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly organised and professional Nursery Manager for our large Infant and Nursery school. Hamstel Infant School and Nursery prides itself on being a child focused, caring, inclusive community; one in which all stakeholders views are valued. The successful applicant will hold a relevant Early Years Level 5 qualification or above and it would be desirable to have had significant experience of Managing a Nursery environment. We are an inclusive nurturing school with excellent facilities for Outdoor Learning.

 

The main scope of the job will be:

To work in partnership with other adults in the Nursery to support social, emotional, educational and welfare needs of Nursery / Early Years children in line with early years goals, codes of practice and school policies and procedures. Duties will include:

  • To lead and manage our Nursery setting on a daily basis

  • Manage the work of Nursery Assistants and other adults to enhance pupils' learning.

  • Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the new Early Years Foundation Stage and Nursery Management.

  • Work in partnership in leading other adults in the Nursery to ensure statutory regulations are met. To lead in the social, emotional, educational and welfare needs of the Nursery children in line with the new Early Years framework, codes of practice, school policies and procedures.

  • Be responsible for all planning of learning opportunities.

  • Lead and organise Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for the Nursery Team.

  • Have the ability to manage a team and to have a strategic view over the whole Nursery.

  • Ensure the Nursery environment is safe, by ensuring risk assessments are carried out on a daily basis

  • Work directly with the Reception Leader in formulating systems and strategies for working across the EYFS.

  • Communicate sensitively and effectively with parents, carers and pupils.

  • Take part in Senior Management Meetings.

  • Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the new Early Years framework.

  • Have knowledge of how to use ICT effectively to support their professional role.

  • Provide a stimulating environment that promotes enquiry, activity and encourages personalised learning.

  • Report on pupils' progress orally and in writing for parents, carers, other professionals and pupils.

  • Arrange for the ordering and management of resources within the delegated budget.

  • Give guidance, support and encouragement to colleagues.

 

The successful candidate will ideally have: 

 

  • Significant experience of supporting children in the Early Years stages of education

  • Level 5 or above relevant to Early years or equivalent qualification

  • GCSE A-C/equivalent in English and Maths 

  • A caring, patient nature 

  • The ability to be flexible 

  • The ability to work well within a team and independently
