About Us

Welcome to Hamstel Infants School and Nursery, a thriving hub of infant and early years education, sited within the Southchurch Ward and serving the East Central area of Southend on Sea.

Along with our partner junior school, we are part of the Portico Academy Trust and collectively with the onsite Children and Family Centre, we provide excellent education from birth to 11 years on our wonderful shared site.

At Hamstel, our school value ‘We Care’ flows through everything we do.

  • We care that our children learn successfully whatever their background, individual needs or starting point in life to reach their potential and achieve their best.

  • We care that our children are safe and happy in school and that they develop skills of determination, resilience and collaboration during their time with us.

  • We care that the thoughts and opinions of our children are heard to promote positive change.

  • We care that our children grow into thoughtful, kind and considerate members of the school community and society as a whole, by promoting our important British values.

  • We care that we provide highly.-trained, committed and enthusiastic staff using excellent resources across our outstanding, spacious site.

  • We care that all of our children and their families are respected as individuals and that every single member of our school community is treated with respect, patience and kindness.
