Assemblies & Collective Worship

Collective Worship and our assemblies are an important feature of daily life at Hamstel Infant School and Nursery. They make a positive contribution to children’s self-development and aim to create, a nurturing and sustainable sense of community.

Assemblies take place during the week in the following arrangement:

Monday: KS1 Singing Assembly

Tuesday: Year 1 World Value Assembly

Thursday: Year 2 World Value Assembly

Friday: Celebration Assembly

Our World Value assemblies allow coverage of British Values, Protected Characteristics and religious festivals. We regularly invite speakers to present to the children including our local Reverend, the Police Service and the Fire Service.

Whole class collective worship is delivered three times a week in EYFS and KS1.

Acts of collective worship aim to:

  • Provide opportunity for pupils to worship God, to consider spiritual and moral issues and to explore their own beliefs.

  • Encourage participation and response through listening and joining in with discussions.

  • Develop community spirit, promote a common ethos and shared values, and reinforce positive attitudes.

  • Reflect on something special that happens separate from other day-to-day activities of the school.
