The overarching aim of Flagship status is that an individual school which has achieved this status can now further its work in Inclusion through internal research activities.

The National Nurturing Schools Programme is a programme that allows our staff to develop and embed a nurturing culture throughout schools, enhancing teaching and learning, promoting healthy outcomes for our children by focusing on emotional needs and development as well as academic learning in a whole-school environment.

IQM provides an evaluative framework which supports organisational self-assessment. With a strong theoretical and research base, the IQM Award provides a validation of current practice and a detailed report summarising the findings.

Becoming a Centre of Excellence is an opportunity for schools to build on the success of being one of the very special schools which holds the Inclusion Quality Mark award. A Centre of Excellence brings schools together to share and build on their existing good practice in inclusion best practice.

The NACE Challenge Award provides national recognition of school-wide high-quality provision for more able learners within a context of challenge for all. The award is part of the NACE Challenge Development Programme.

The Bronze, Silver and Gold Stonewall School Champion awards give greater recognition to schools tackling homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying and celebrating diversity.

The schools in Southend-on-Sea can work to gain Healthy School status by using our school specific self-evaluation tool, to help them demonstrate how they improve school life through health and wellbeing work. Completing the evaluation tool will highlight areas on which to focus. Specific areas covered are PSHE, Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Emotional Health and Wellbeing.

Artsmark has been designed by schools, for schools, to align with School Improvement Plans and support core EBACC and STEM priorities, giving the curriculum breadth and balance.

The School Swimming Charter has been developed by Swim England – not a faceless organisation but real people who are committed to helping save lives by ensuring children are safe in the water.

Unicef works with schools in the UK to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. Our Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.

Sport Englands vision is that everyone in England feels able to take part in sport or activity, regardless of age, background or ability.
