Our Leveret has returned!
We have welcomed back the Hamstel Infant School and Nursery Hares about Town Leveret.
Since leaving us, our leveret has been displayed in the window of the Forum Cafe in Southend Central Library. Having been on a wonderful journey our leveret is now displayed proudly in-between our school trophy cabinets.
All of the children in school will now be able to experience and enjoy it!
Our Leveret started its life as a plain white sculpture.

The design we chose follows the theme of ‘Finding the Positives’ The pattern and colour scheme centers around the positives that have arisen from the Pandemic.
Hares About Town was a spectacular public art event that was signified with sculptures of Hares and Leverets that could be found on a trail that wove its way through Southend. The beautiful Hare sculptures, each one individually designed by an artist and sponsored by a business, were displayed on a discovery trail for local people to explore and enjoy! As well as the big hare sculptures there were over 50 Leverets (baby hares) designed and created by schools and community groups across the Borough.
We want to express huge thanks to Ms Ayres and the Y2 Art Club of 2020 for their creativity and collaboration that put together such a magnificently eye catching design for our leveret sculpture.
We are very grateful to Mr Reynolds the Headteacher from Southchurch Academy who very generously sponsored the leveret for our school.
All proceeds from the event went to the Havens Hospices and they raised an incredible £226,000 for their charity!
