Media Team Report: Happy Chicks Visit

This term we have had little visitors join us at school. They came to school as eggs. At first, they were very small and we had to be very quiet and careful. We kept them in a special warm box called an incubator.

After a day, we saw tiny cracks in the eggs. It was very exciting! Then the chicks started to hatch. We watched them push their way out. It took a long time and we learned that chicks need to be strong to hatch because they need to use lots of energy so they kept falling asleep after.

When they came out, they were wet and tired. Soon they evolved and they became fluffy and dry. They were very cute and yellow!

Now the chicks are growing bigger. We feed them and give them water. We like watching them run around and chirp loudly.

We loved seeing the chicks grow from eggs into real baby chickens. It has been amazing.

We have interviewed some teachers and some of our friends. We asked them questions about the chicks and here is what they have said:

Dylan: How are you feeling about the chicks and why?

Miss Iruskieta: Oh my goodness, Dylan, I am so excited. I love the chicks every year because they are just so fluffy and cute.

Leo: Are you excited for the chicks to arrive?

Mr Roche: Yes I am! Although I don’t know if I am quite as excited as Miss Iruskieta. Having the chicks in school is always nice though because the children get to learn about the lifecycle.

Joey: How are you feeling about the chicks coming to school and why?

Miss Goodman: I am so excited. We watch them hatch from their eggs and grow so quickly. They are so fluffy too!

Savannah: Why do you like the chicks being at school?

Mrs Riley: The chicks being at school makes everyone so happy. The children are happy and the teachers are super happy. Have you seen how fluffy they get?

Chanju: What have you enjoyed most about having the chicks here and why?

Arthur: I have really enjoyed having chick cam on in class and watching them hatch. Also, I really like that we have held them and watched them run. They’re funny.

Evelyn: What do you like about the chicks?

Lily: I really like that they are so fluffy and cute. They make me feel happy and I held one!

Thomas: Who is your favourite chick and why?

Freddie: I don’t have a favourite yet but they are all really cute and fluffy. They run fast and their wings are becoming very big now.

Beau: What is your favourite thing about the chicks?

Xavier: My favourite thing about the chicks is that we have watched them hatch and grow. They are getting really big.

We look forward to seeing the chicks next year and seeing what that brood will be like!

We wish you a happy Easter.
