Lego Robotics Day
Our More Able Mathematicians in Year 2 enjoyed an amazing day on Thursday 27th June when Nick from JuniorSTEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) came to visit us and carry out some fantastic Lego Robotics workshops. The children had a great time developing a range of skills linked to ‘engineering’. Through using Lego and writing algorithms with the Lego software blocks app the children had exploration time to build their own simple spinning machine, then they followed some steps to build a Fairground Ride. Once they had developed some of their algorithms, they then applied their learnt skills to build a Roaring Lion and program a motion sensor. Throughout the day they had opportunities to reflect and ‘upgrade’ their models with additional Lego pieces.
