Year 2 Celebrate Christingle

Year 2 celebrated the Christingle event with Reverend Goodliff leading the assembly. All the children had made a Christingle from oranges and used cocktail sticks, red ribbon, sweets and fruit to decorate them.

A Christingle Orange - what the different parts represent.

  • The orange is round like the world

  • The candle gives light in the dark like the love of God

  • The red ribbon goes all around the ‘world’

  • The four sticks point in all directions and symbolise North, South, East and West, they also represent the 4 seasons

  • The fruits and sweets represent the fruits of the earth, nurtured by the sunshine and the rain.

The children really enjoyed this event and some even lit the candles on their oranges.
