Book Week - Reception
To celebrate World Book Day the children brought in their favourite books from home and enjoyed sharing their favourite stories with their class friends. The children loved the opportunity to hear different stories and to have the chance to share what they liked about each.
On Thursday everyone came dressed up as their favourite story book character which was so much fun for both children and adults alike! All the Reception children took part in a parade in the hall, where each class took it in turns to walk around the hall in a big circle showing off their costumes and waving at their friends from other classes. It was lovely to see the huge amount of time and effort everyone had put in to make this celebration of Reading such a success. Thank you all very much!
The week was full of lots of different book themed activities for all of the children to join in. We created our own books, designed costumes for World Book Day and made book marks to take home and use inside our books. The children had lots of fun sharing all of their ideas and having the chance to talk in front of their classes about what they enjoyed most.
The children also especially enjoyed sharing their individual story scene boxes with their class. There were some truly fantastic entries into this competition, and all were worthy winners in their own right.
The children have had a brilliant week in Reception with the special focus on Reading for Pleasure as celebrated through the 25th Anniversary of World Book Week.
