Commonwealth Games KS1 Celebration

On Thursday 7th July, 29 Year 2 children headed off to Eastwood Academy to take part in a fun morning of activities. The event was centred around the Commonwealth Games, with each school being given a country from the Commonwealth to represent. Our country was New Zealand and with some flags made by Badger Class and a big flag made by Art Club the children paraded around the track to mark the opening ceremony.

The children were split into two groups and went around to try various games and sports, all led by young leaders from Eastwood Academy. The children had a great time working on; basketball skills, tennis skills, throwing, long jump, fencing, dodgeball and obstacle races. Overall the children took part in 9 different activities.

The children had great fun all morning and the enjoyed getting the chance to take part in all the games. They represented Hamstel with pride and were excellent ambassadors for the school. One of the most exciting parts of the morning was getting to meet Leo the Lion. Well done to all the children who took part.
