Portico Academy Cricket Friendly Match

On Thursday 4th July Hamstel had visitors to the school. No, not Gemma’s farm or Ofsted but a team of cricketers from our partner schools Friars and Porters. We had arranged a 3 Tees friendly tournament for after school, you may even have spotted us on the field. We fielded a new team that afternoon, our cricketers were different children to those that played in the Southend Tournament the previous week. Each team consisted of 4 boys and 2 girls. The teams played 2 games each – one against each of the other two schools. These friendly games were used as a learning experience too as some of the teams had more practise than others. The children all had a great time. One of the pupils from Friars celebrated getting it through the gate twice in a row with a wriggle dance which amused and entertained us all. Although it was a friendly we were still really pleased to come top of the group. Thank you to the parents who came to support their children and the event. We hope to repeat this and hopefully some other intra-school events within the MAT next academic year.
