Creative Week - World War 1

Year 1 outdoor learning

Year One have enjoyed investigating Autumn and went on a tree hunt around the wildlife area. The children identified whether trees were deciduous or evergreen and used a key to identify the type of tree including holly, oak, ash and elder. The children have also been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. They listened to the story of Rama and Sita, designed their own Mendi patterns and used leaves and chalks to create their own Rangoli patterns outside.

Busy week in the nursery

This week the Nursery children have been learning about Diwali and Remembrance Day. They have researched information, looking at photographs and watching film clips using the Smart TV. They have also been very creative making Diwali candles, their own Rangoli patterns, Poppies from salt dough and pictures using their own thumb prints to make a field of Poppies. The Nursery staff are very proud of how creative they have been and how interested they have been in both of these interesting and thought provoking occasions. Well done Nursery children.

Hear ye, Heay ye!

On Tuesday 30th of October, 2018 Year 2 at Hamstel Infants School found something very special indeed… a time capsule. After a lot of excitement and research we discovered that it was all about Queen Victoria! We found out about her life and her reign. We really enjoyed using technology and books to find out about the Royal Family. We can’t wait to write a non-chronological report about her life next week. Can you find out an interesting fact about Queen Victoria?
