Parent Council
Why Have a Parent Council?
At Hamstel Infant School and Nursery, we believe that children achieve their best when home and school work together. Our Parent Council plays an important role in strengthening this partnership by providing a positive and constructive way for parents and carers to share their views and contribute to school life.
The Parent Council aims to:
-
Strengthen the partnership between home and school.
-
Provide a welcoming forum where parents and carers can share ideas, views and feedback.
-
Celebrate what is working well and help identify opportunities for further improvement.
-
Support the school in making informed decisions that benefit all children and families.
-
Act as a link between the wider parent community and the school, ensuring that parents’ voices are heard and valued.
Together, we can continue to make Hamstel Infant School and Nursery the very best it can be for our children and families.
Expectations of Parent Council Representatives
Parent Council Representatives act as a link between their class and the school. They are encouraged to gather and share the views of parents and carers, contribute positively to discussions, attend meetings whenever possible, and communicate key outcomes with those they represent. Discussions should focus on matters that affect the wider school community rather than individual children or families, helping to maintain a constructive and collaborative partnership between home and school.
The Parent Council works collaboratively with the school and acts in an advisory capacity, helping to ensure that the views of parents and carers are heard and considered.
How Is the Parent Council Formed?
Our Parent Council is made up of parent representatives from classes across the Infant School and Nursery. Meetings are held half-termly and are attended by members of the Parent Council alongside Mrs Tracy, Vice Principal.
Parents and carers can raise items for discussion by speaking to their class representative or by contacting the school directly. Meeting minutes are shared with the wider school community through class representatives, in a follow-up email after each meeting, and are also available on this page.
Our Parent Council Representatives for this academic year are listed below. They are happy to listen to your ideas, suggestions and feedback, and to share the outcomes of meetings with you.
When raising an item for discussion, we ask that it is of general interest to the wider school community rather than an individual concern relating to a specific child or family. We welcome positive feedback about what is working well, as well as suggestions, improvements and new ideas that will help us continue to develop and enhance school life for all our children and families.
